        2 many 2 mention.....alot of the wot's prob the 4th or even 5th generation bands suck....they are just treading the same water/territory over and over......I have to say the Casualties are pretty bad and another band I once saw called the Stitches[?]........

    i have to agree with the comment about worst is sometimes the best and vice versa...
    my vote goes for the dwarves....if only because you really never know what ur gonna get..which really makes them one of the best.. yet...its a conundrum......i love the dwarves but i hate that they always get my money at a live show and than never play more than a few seconds which means they are the worst and the best.....eekkkkk

      I'm with you Art....At least three times I got all excited to see them and all I saw was about 30 seconds of them destroying all their equipment...Wasn't all that bad but music would have been nice too. Once, they never got to the stage! That was it! WTF?!

        Years a go I saw the dwarves play here in Columbus and it was a 19 minute show. We had had a pool going to guess how long theyw ould actually play and I had picked 13. Damn over achievers.

            thant is the dwarves m.o. i don't think i have ever seen them on stage for more than 30. and god forbid you touch anything "swingin" and not be a WOMAN! tee hee that thing is called an axe for more than one reason! and Flipper....the worst band that everyone loves. what a bummer:( I was really looking forward to that last show,Flipper is missed "LIFE! it's the only thing worth livin' for"~R

        i was thinking GG but than i got to thinking and he was entertaining if nothing else.
        i guess my judgement is tainted since i was able to hang out with him for a weekend. he was actually pretty great guy although this is way back. i won't bore anyone with my old man punk rantings....anywho..i'll stick with the dwarves if only cause they took so much of my money thru the years...lol

            You know what Ruckus I grew up with all of them and they are punker than you! I went to school with Fat Mike plus gigs all the time and have known him for almost 23 years! I wouldn't talk shit. Just because every fuckin band copied their style does not mean they are not punk. Look at all the Minor Threat clones too back in the day.

            I understand what you are saying. But they are old school and have been around for 21 years! And are far from daft!

              Besides, the shit I listen to has no NOFX influence. (i.e. Jesus Lizard, No Means No, Cop Shoot Cop)

          Well not the sole reason but a major part of the equation, was it Crass or Conflict that fights the facist skins and other facists. I mean realy fight not just with lyrics as in brawls etc. Maybe it's both....

              and that is exactly what crass is. It seems that some have forgotten about the Oi! bands which have kept the scene real, and it seems to me that Oi! is still going strong while the crass shite has seemed to die away(or so it seems to me, but hey that whole hippy thing was never my thing).

              by the way, I'm big enough, and old enough to back up anything that I say about whinny hippies, so you saying that you would like to "see me say that..." is just downright insulting to me. Do you think everyone on here is some scrawny internet-geek? If so, then you are sadly mistaken this time.

                hmm...no I would still say that Crass werent Hippies. I would also say that they have left a far greater Legacy than the Oi movement has. The key being 'substance'. Crass's lyrics provoked thought, tackling political issues and ultimately ended up being debated and banned in the houses of Parliament. Oi seems to attract teenagers that like violence, and like to avoid thinking.

                and no I dont assume anyone on here is scrawny or 'not big'... I was merely implying that most people 'hate Crass' as a reactionary statement, without even ever listening to them. The 'like to see you say it to his face' statement wasnt to imply that "Steve Ignorant would kick your ass!" it was more about how he would challenge you, he isnt someone who would take your shit...but you obviously assume that they would run away cowering like hippies. and ultimately if you would use violence (implicated by your 'I'm big enough') to resolve a difference, that you couldnt defend on an intellectual level, means that you are a moron.

                  I've yet to see a hippy cowere and I was raised by em. Peace, love and non=violence does not mean cowardice, in fact when the hippy thing came into being it took a lot of balls to be a hippy, they took a lot of shit and stood up to it. Just like in the early days of punk we took a lot of shit and you had to have some spine to go around looking like we did. Not so much anymore in some parts of the world but there are still places it takes balls to be either.

                  Besides I remember back in the day some of us called ourselves "the hippies revenge". Peace and love didn't work so let's try in your face!

                    That is really true. When I was a kid, you had to stand up for yourself, including to the cops. I've been wailed on w/ billy clubs and harrassed before. You were considered a true freak in most places. You learned alot about who your real friends were too.

                    But that's really true. Punks were like the REAL HIPPIES, because we realized that things still sucked and had to change. I know plenty of cool hippies and DeadHeads. Punk is protest music, which goes waaaaaaay back. Bob Dylan was a punk. So were Jim Morrison, Pete Townsend and Jerry Garcia, at least at one point. Frank Zappa & Capt Beefheart were punks, definately.

                      To the guy bitching about Crass, and who's thinking that oi is where it's at: Oi is pure fucking bullshit. It was a divide & conquer scheme created by Gary Bushell, Sounds magazine, and that other jack-ass "oi poet". Basically, it was another way to perpetuate the bullshit class-system, violence, racism, etc. I was buying Sham69, Cockney Rejects, and Discharge records before Oi was around, and so I payed attention to it from the beginning. I know exactly what the Oi movement is. And it sure as fuck is not what the original skins were (who were very similar to mods, and were exclusively English, btw). It weaseled it's way into establishing some street credibility through bands like Sham 69. Too bad, Jimmy. You fucked up. Crass and the UK Subs (originally called the UK Subversives) are two of the best post- "Class of '76" english punk bands. Whatever Crass said, they meant it. They had nothing to gain. They knew they would take serious shit for saying what they thought. It wasn't some rhetorical horse-shit, like what you'd hear at one of those drunken fucking soccer games. Don't worry about what's still around. Think for yourself.

                    I don't really think you could pay our NOFX i have great respect for bands that have been around so long. Its not about if there mainstream, underground or successful. When bands stick through what they like and don't care what anyone else thinks, is a real band! the ones that sellout well i guess they wanna make some money. I personally love Strung out, they have matured so much as a band over the years! I am a great fan where they go with there music, straight from the soul, and guitar harmonies that many punk bands would never even make in there career. Very talented band.

                You know what!? Everyone has music and certain bands they like. I fuckin hate hippies because of their peace love attitude, it doesn't work in a real world. BUT, music is music.     I hate the Exploited more than any other band.

    They were not originally punk. They were skinheads. But that did't stop that douchebag, Wattie, from growing a big mohawk, and mail-ordering his punk costume back to his home in Scottland, which is where he's from. Wattie has had dumb shit to say about bands, people, politics, etc. Fuck him.

      Hey, I know those guys. They NEVER called themselves punks. They think of themselves as simply a fucking band. If you're gonna vomit, do it on the media no-nothings who put that ridiculous handle on the band. I think too much animosity on this tribe is directed at Green Day for probably no other reason than that they're extremely successful. But anybody who's ever played in a band knows how musicians regard their music. They're not a sellout, they've just sold out a lot of concerts and record bins. Sorry for the rant, but they've never formulated themselves as anything more than a good garage band with great production values and songs that hook.

        Thank you Edwin, BTW I like American Idiot and back in the day some of the bands we listned to were almost as big a comercial sucess as Green Day. Also in the sixties a major medium for protest were bands that were also a commercial sucess. Fuck you don't have to starve to fight the sytem.

        Respect your opinion Edwin but Green Day seems to talk out of both sides of their mouths. To you they may never claim to be a punk band but they sure are good at going on tv and claiming they are. Especially with their latest that they proudly proclaim as a "Punk rock opera"(whatever the fuck that means) saying that Punk was ready for a change. Personally I could give a rats ass I don't like their music or their frat boy fan base so they have no effect on me. Them and all the other blink charlotte crap are filed in the same bin as the Chipmunk Punk and Ktel "punk" albums that had bands like the Cars and Duran Duran during the early eighties.

                  I never thought I'd say this, but since I bought (yes, an actual store purchase!) Old School by 7 Seconds I wonder just how drunk I had to be to endure a whole show.

                  Mind you, Kevin and I do (only just) know each other. (It's hard to be honest while insulting someone, but DON'T buy Old School!!!!)

                  His coffee shop in Sacramento, True Love, promotes local political and alternative bands... mostly accoustic. I highly reccommend it. And bring your accoustic. Jams happen out back.

                        Worst punk band...that's a tough one. Can I pick two? Good Charlotte and Blink 182. Mind you, I don't actually consider either of those bands to be punk--stylistically or otherwise--but that's how they're categorized.

                            i'm inclined to defend green day and no fx, since i support bay area music being from the bay area and all. they may be commercial and all, but i remember a time they were punk... however to answer the thread i'm gonna say the obvious, good charlotte. honorable mention goes to the casualties... now there's a bunch of punk posers.
