The song "White Noise" by Stiff Little Fingers is anti-racist, right?

Re: A stupid question
Thu, November 20, 2008 - 11:48 PMI'm pretty sure it is! I know that the term "White Noise" has been used to describe "Ambient Electronic Feedback" , and has literally nothing to do with any racial overtones! I've heard the term being used to describe music by people like Brian Eno or Kraftwerk. I have always assumed that the Stiff Little Fingers track was referring to that genre! I could be wrong however.

Tue, November 25, 2008 - 7:24 PMAbout the only song that I am really familiar with by "Stiff Little Fingers" is "Alternative Ulster", and I didn't think that the lyrics made alot sense at all. Oh! Well!

Re: A stupid question
Wed, November 26, 2008 - 8:55 AMdooood, that is a really stupid question, as the song ends with 'white noise', ie, the static you hear from your tv or radio when it's just static and no program, and they say, 'turn up the white noise.' seems pretty self-explanatory to me. -

Wed, November 26, 2008 - 12:50 PMStiff Little Fingers - White Noise
Rastus was a nigger. Thug mugger junkie.
Black golly gob. Big horny monkey.
Pimp pusher coon. Grinning piccaninnies.
Send him home soon. Back to the trees.
Black wogs. Black wogs. Your Face don't fit.
Black wogs. Black wogs. You Ain't no Brits.
Ahmed is a Paki. Curry coffee queer.
Ten to a bed. Flocking over here.
Tax-sponging canker. Smelly thieving kids.
Ponce greasy wanker. Worse than the yids.
Brown wogs. Brown wogs. Your Face don't fit.
Brown wogs. Brown wogs. You Ain't no Brits.
Stick together we'll be all white me and you
The only colours we need are red, right and blue.
Paddy is a moron. Spud thick Mick.
Breeds like a rabbit. Thinks with his prick.
Anything floors him if he can't fight or drink it.
Round them up in Ulster. Tow it out and sink it.
Green wogs. Green wogs. Our Face don't fit.
Green wogs. Green wogs. We Ain't no Brits.
If the victim ain't a soldier why should we care?
Irish bodies don't count. Life's cheaper over there.
Green wogs. Green wogs. Face don't fit.
Green wogs. Green wogs. We Ain't no Brits.
Green Wogs. Green wogs. Get 'em boys.
Green wogs. Green wogs. Turn up the white noise. -

Re: A stupid question
Fri, November 28, 2008 - 12:55 AMI didn't know they were an Irish band, also I just got "Nobody's Heroes". it had this song on it:
"Doesn't Make It Alright"
"Just because you're nobody
It doesn't mean that you're no good
Just because there's a reason
It doesn't mean it's understood
[Chorus:]
It doesn't make it alright
It doesn't make it alright
It's the worst excuse in the world
And it doesn't make it alright
Some people think they're really clever
To smash your head against a wall
Then they say 'You got it my way'
They really think they know it all
[Chorus]
Just because you're a black boy
Just because you're a white
Doesn't mean you've got to hate him
Doesn't mean you've got to fight
[Chorus]
It doesn't make it all
It doesn't make it all
It doesn't make it all right"
That kind of settled things.
